It is to laugh
Who says they don't have a sense of humor at the United Nations?
Why, they've put me in stitches with the news that Zimbabwe — a nation with quadruple-digit inflation — is going to chair the UN Commission on Sustainable Development.
Actually, there's less irony to this than might seem to be the case, since these sorts of bodies do more to sustain the development of bureaucracies and NGOs than of peoples or cultures or nations. But the more that happens to discredit the UN, the better.
