Payback time?

I don't mean to express dark thoughts amid the jubilation over the news that Ron Paul is tops when it comes to donations from members of the armed services.

Well, yes I do.  After all, the names of campaign donors are a matter of public record.  Is it not possible that the military has been sufficiently politicized that retribution could be had in the form of dangerous duty, denied promotions, and whatnot?

That's not a rhetorical question.  I think either "yes" or "no" is a plausible answer, based on what I know, and I'll admit that's not much.  But I'd like to know more before I dismiss the question out of hand.
