The Government is Here to Help, Trust Me
A good deal? Not so much… as Addison Wiggin recently pointed out in Agora Financial’s 5 Min. Forecast:
“Maybe you saw the news that Government Motors’ long-awaited electric vehicle, the Chevrolet Volt, is now for sale. And maybe you saw that it’s selling for a stiff $41,000… before a $7,500 federal tax credit.
“What you probably didn’t see is this: It turns out the Volt fails to qualify for California’s $5,000 green car rebate. Nor will anyone driving a Volt alone be allowed access to the state’s high-occupancy vehicle lanes.
“True, California’s green car standards are notoriously arcane. But Nissan figured out how to make its own electric vehicle, the LEAF, meet all the requirements. And for a sticker price $8,000 lower.
“Must be sweet, being 61% owned by Uncle Sam and feeling no pressure to even try to compete.”
You can decide for yourself at Government Motors…
