Borat unleashed
It was in September that Justice Litle first alerted us to the fact the Bush administration was trying to assuage the harsh feelings of Kazakhstan's government because of the movie Borat.
Now that it's been released in the States and the reviews are in, we see another reason Team Bush had its boxers in a wad — a whole sequence in which Borat gets his prepositions mixed up and smartly salutes the "war of terror." As one reviewer notes, this is a film that will play much better in Blue states than Red, and it may well be the real reason Fox scaled back its release despite massive pre-release buzz.
And no, I don't think this is a case of Fox trying to suppress anti-Bush commentary just before the election. Not when the Simpsons' annual Treehouse of Horror episode will do a sendup of the Iraq war two days before Election Day.
While my wife and I have other plans this weekend and won't have a chance to see Borat right away, feel free to share your own reviews in the comments section…
