04/02/11 Stockholm, Sweden – The new movie, “Too Big to Fail,” based on Andrew Ross Sorkin’s book of the same name, is about Washington’s response to the financial crisis… a matter we know all too well… and explores 2008′s Wall Street financial implosion and the people who made the pivotal decisions on how to react.
Now, leave it to HBO to cast William Hurt as Hank Paulson, Billy Crudup as Tim Geithner, and Paul Giamatti as Ben Bernanke – along with, why not, even a few Sex and the City stars — to “sex” up the whole fiasco. To get a quick sense, you can see the brief trailer below.
The bigger question, better drawn out by the longer “In Production” trailer below, is how much this film will attempt to repaint the bailout debacle as just a few overly-heroic men bravely doing their jobs, whereas regular readers of the DR are likely to know better. Watch the two clips and, if you’re so inclined, the film — coming to theaters in May 2011 — to decide for yourself.

One has to wonder, with so much blame to go around will they just lay it at the doorstep of the Republican President of the time, or will it show the bi-partisan pooch screw for what it was and continues to be. Being hollywood, I think I know the answer without ever having to see the movie.
