Snouts at the Trough
The scale of fraud allegedly being committed by Somalian immigrants in Minnesota has shocked the country.
It started with an independent journalist named Nick Shirley and his viral investigation into government-funded daycares.
As I’m sure you all know by now, he visited a bunch of them on camera, and most were empty on a school day.
Many had boarded-up windows, and no outdoor play areas. And the star of the show was the “Quality Learing Center”:

The New York Post reports that, “The Quality Learning Center had received $1.9 million from Minnesota’s Child Care Assistance Program in the 2025 fiscal year.”
Suspiciously, this daycare closed suddenly after the investigation into alleged fraud. If they’ve got nothing to hide, why shutter the business?
The daycare schemes appear to extend deeply into Minnesota politics. Here’s a screenshot of a post from Governor Tim Walz back in 2023:

Hmm… Was Walz aware of the alleged fraud? Was Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey? Were Minnesota politicians doling out funds in exchange for votes, kickbacks, or donations?
I came across an interesting post on X worth sharing:
i’m not sure who needs to hear this, but there is nothing even remotely sophisticated about these endless somali and NGO/immigration frauds. not PPP, not food, not autism, and not daycare or welfare or SNAP or free rent.
it’s all blatant, hammer in the face stuff.
it did not go on for years because the perpetrators were crafty. it went on because the DA’s, prosecutors, police, judges, mayors, governors, and congress critters were relying on this demographic for vote harvesting.
being able to defraud the electorate and plunder the taxpayers was the price of winning elections, one the swamp donkeys were happy to pay.
it seemed so simple.
but a funny thing happens when you keep playing this game: the power shifts.
your “captive voter base” becomes your ruler once you start needing them more than they need you.
the politicians are trapped: dirty, negligent, on the take, and dependent. everyone’s tainted beak is in the NGO game. they’d all lose office immediately without these voting blocks and machines that they cultivated. and so here we are.
“look at me, i am the kingmaker now.”
Seems plausible. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has announced an IRS task force which will audit suspicious payments in Minnesota and beyond. So we should know more soon about how it all went down, and exactly who benefitted.
The daycare fraud in Minnesota is significant in scale. But if we zoom out, it’s just part of a much larger problem.
Medicare, Food Programs, and More
In December, the U.S. Attorney for Minnesota estimated that $9 billion worth of fraud in government services has taken place in the state since 2017. Likely a low estimate.
And nationwide, the scale of the problem is hard to fathom.
Medicare’s internal watchdog estimates that $60 billion is lost to fraud and abuse annually. Again, I suspect that estimate is far too low.
Fraud has become endemic in our society. Many people seem to view abusing government programs as a victimless crime.
But the winds are shifting…
Anger and Hope
The sudden surge of anger gives me hope.
Finally, Americans are getting to the boiling point. It’s about time. This rage has been simmering for decades, but we may finally be close to a tipping point.
I’ve never seen a story like the Minnesota fraud get so much attention. It took off like wildfire. Even mainstream outlets were forced to cover it.
The Trump administration is promising extensive investigations. And not just in Minnesota. Across the entire country there’s fraud that needs to be prosecuted, and fraudsters who need to be imprisoned and/or deported.
In fact, as I was finishing up this article, a friend forwarded me the following post on X from ICE, announcing that temporary protective status (TPS) has been revoked for thousands of Somalian immigrants (hopefully those abusing the system).

In just a few hours, the post has already collected more than 36,000 likes and 500,000 views. Americans are eager to punish those who abuse our trust, especially refugees who we allowed into our country out of kindness.
Around the country, government scammers are on high alert. Hopefully, many will soon be in prison or on their way back to their homeland with a free ticket courtesy of Uncle Sam.
We need to harness this anger while it’s still fresh. It seems that President Trump is paying the appropriate amount of attention to this massive problem.
