Like I was sayin'
The very day I speculate about a disputed, drawn-out, even violent aftermath to the midterm elections, as if on cue, Bush and Kerry demonstrate my point. All the anger, all the venom, spill out in a trivial tiff over Kerry's lame attempt at humor.
And just as the election's outcome is meaningless in terms of reining in the welfare-warfare state, this brouhaha is meaningless in terms of the debate over Iraq. But does it ever suck up newsprint, airtime, and bandwidth — while real news, significant developments, and telling details from Iraq are crowded out. What a sorry state of affairs.
