Meanwhile in Mexico...

Peak Oil theorists are taking heart from a piece in the Wall Street Journal last week that went into great detail about the decline of the massive Cantarell oilfield.  But it's not the whole story.  Kevin Kerr of Outstanding Investments hears this from one of his sources:

He said it's worse than I can imagine. Equipment is grinding to a halt, reserves are simply gone.

Oh, and the drug war down there has claimed another prominent victim.  A reporter for one of Mexico's national TV networks was gunned down Friday night, likely by a drug gang.  The country just to our south is now ranked the second-most dangerous place in the world for reporters — after Iraq.
