When I was a kid you could buy 6 large ( 1.5 ounce ) bars for a quarter. Now, those same ( but smaller ) bars cost about a dollar each. But, thankfully, I am so grateful to learn from the Washington Gurus that we don't have inflation, except for food, medicine education and oil. Wow... what a relief! I can now worry about how to pay for the really important things like $100,000 for 11 embezzlers to go to the South Pole to learn about climate change. They had such a great reason: a quick tourist experience is better than reasoned study and analysis! Well, at least in the shifting quicksands of modern American life something has remained constant: continued theft of tax dollars by doubtful officials. The differences on the other things are even greater. This explains why I can't have a standard of living that was as good as when I was growing up!
