I own gold; I am smart; therefore gold is desirable and must and will increase in value - OR I own nuclear weapons; have credible delivery systems; have vast amounts of developed and desirable real estate; have a generally stable government; and a very well, albeit deficitly-funded, military superpower defensive and offensive system - all of which - all of which - are denominated in US dollars; and therefore, the dollar, somewhat like democracy, is the least bad of all basket of currency items and is destined for at least an interim period, to rise sharply against other valued items? The US dollar, in addition to its telltale deterministic fractal progression, has a somewhat plausible qualitative foundation for its coming nonlinear ascent against other currencies - and the old barbaric outdated relic.
