The government and big pharma are partners, not opponents. One size fits all the battle cry of government health care. Most of the R&D, the basic science, is federally funded. Drug companies have tons of money to spend in court over intellectual property rights, millions to spend on advertising and exorbitant executive salaries. They aren't hurting for money, nor are they the engines of progress.
