You get black market doctors working for bags of home-grown food, auto repairs, or such.

I don’t think a gov’t bureaucracy would be cheaper, because the gov’t would pay the same army of paper pushers to work to deny care, make you jump through hoops to get to a specialist, etc., only because they are gov’t workers, you have little power to contest their decisions.

Then what you want is a union of doctors that you pay an annual fee to, and cut out the health insurance companies from the deal. This is a fine idea but is prevented by stupid current anti trust law.

Clarification:

I would like the government to replace the same for profit beauracrats at the private insurance companies.

The doctors can still manage themselves. I do not see how my health care is improved by paying for huge bonuses and stock options of these health Wall STreet health insurance companies.

At my company our health insurance costs are enormous.

I would prefer single payer not for profit health care run by the government. I do not see how our health care costs at this company could possibly be any higher under a single payer system and they would likely be lower.
