The finacial melt down was caused by the Commodity Futuers Moderization Act of 2000. Better know as the Enron Bill. That piece of legislation allow the outragious growth of CDS's and COD's. All without government oversight.

dw,

Your comment only outs you as a complete ignoramus. The United States left free markets behind decades ago, starting w/ the Fed in 1913 and vastly accelerated w/ the New Deal. We practice "State Capitalism", better known as Economic-Fascism. State redistribution of wealth and central economic planning caused this "crisis" and the state is working overtime to make it worse by doing *more of the same*!

"You want to limit the power of the huge corporate conglomerates to sabotage your democracy"

That's assuming that democracy is good, holy, the standard to which all others should be held, and the pinnacle of human achievement.

What free market? Bust up all global corporate oligopolies. Spin their divisions off into competing stand alone corporate entities. You want free markets and innovation? You want to limit the power of the huge corporate conglomerates to sabotage your democracy, play sovereign tax authorities off against one another, play each nations work force off against one another? Then they must be broken up. Innovation for the 21 st century. A braver new world.

While the government subsidizes the imbalances and everyone looks for signs of the old economy returning millions of unemployed are sniffing out unmet needs and opportunities. They will start new ventures and hire others. That is how recovery happens and I don't see that anyone in media or government knows that.

you are correct. It was the UNREGULATED free market that caused the Financial crisis.

But besides that, the rest of the crap in this article is just that, crap. I read a couple of other articles on this site too, all crap.

I find it interesting that this site is run by a Financial company. Bitter much?

Losers.
