Good grief.

This article is chock full of historical mythology.

No one died because of 'cummunal agriculture'.

They died because they were strangers in a strange land and did not have the resources to make it. They survivors made it because supplies arrived from the old world and they got help from the natives that knew how to survive because it was their home. Then the invaders proceeded to doublecross and rob the poor natives until this day and the rest, is history.

The depression was caused by Germany defaulting on her debts and if we had not protected our industry we would have lost WWII. Protectionism is good! That what strong nations do. They protect themselves.

We need to balance the trade deficit in order to survive, not let our trade rivals flood us with cheap goods and oil.

The reason the government is able to get away with plundering us is because it is owned by so-called private interests, but really they are pirate interests.

'Capitalism' and communism are opposites: one is man exploiting man, the other is the reverse.

There hasn't been a 'free market' since we were living in caves.

i dunno if the robber barron's were just really benevolent people looking to better humanity, i view them as the fathers of today's greats such as goldmansachs, walmart, GE and so forth. Otherwise good stuff.

Although I heartily agree with the sentiments and most of the facts, I bristle at the portrayal of the "robbers barons" as having robbed no one. With the help of the fedgov they (both railroad and oil cabals) stole native land and food sources(buffalo), killing countless, polluted public water, air and farmland, dug up numerous woodlands while mining with burned through essential slave labor from china, Africa and Appalachia. Not being a bleeding heart liberal, I am only pointing out that if something is too cheap to be true, the price is probably paid in future losses. We are still paying for that "cheap" oil and transportation of decades ago. Selfish greed IS the primate's survival strategy. UGH.

I was told people left farms for factories because the farm's landlord squeezed the farmers so much they couldn't feed their offspring.
