Quantitative Easing, in regards to the Great Depression, was a theory living in the environment of no or little existing Government Debt.

Simultaneously deploying Quantitative Easing and Keynesian Defict Government Spending, in an environment of existing high government debt, unintended consequences ar inevitable.

I think the issue we need to address is not how our current mess came to be, but if there are any Friedman-ites left in government left to expunge. Dick Cheney was I thought, the devil. After reading the Shock Doctrine by Naomi Klein, I now realize Cheney only sucked at the teat of the real devil, Uncle Milty, and was sitting on Rumsfelds lap when he drank.
Our current situation is very similar to the early colonies, when the Governors held all the wealth and the indentured servants carried the load. I know next to nothing about economics, but I've been saying for years that Globalization is only good for those at the top, and horrible for anyone below. The people that fear socialism fear losing their billlions and their power. Globalization is a lie and a failure, and the world is now going through an inevitable adjustment. China can't make EVERYTHING with the rest of the world unemployed. We don't need to go forward, we need to stop and back up, before there is mass revolution around the globe.
