another simple observation is that after each of the 2 commodity booms - from 1950-1970 and 1975-2002 the CRB was trendless = so you have a major boost in the CRB over several years then a long period of stable trendless price activity.

So we have either had the boom from 2002 or part way through so why not a period of stable price activity for some years 

given as an DR reader that the American-runaway-consumerism is dead due to debt de-leverageing then why wont USA be like Japan for a decade - low growth low inflation 

nonetheless to hedge my bad forecastuing ability I am building up in silver and rare art - given up on equities - but will trade foreign exchange</description>
