To Tim Sutton,

My good man, it may have escaped your notice, but the Queen of England also gave Alan Greenspan a Knighthood!

Some ETFs have fine prints which might say that they're not required to hold physical gold, or only a fraction of it, so yes, physical holdings are better

Hey Wally, I have been buying physical gold using Bullionvault for months now. Best way out there to buy gold I know. There are indeed potential issues with "paper gold" and ETF's - true or not I can't say, but the Queen has given BV an award for innovation last year and so if Our Lizzie recommends it, that's good enough for me !

So nice to talk about gold and stocks while millions of Americans do not have a pot to piss in. But that is OK, afterall they are stupid and lazy -right?
Survival(!)of the fittest, right on.
God bless Mongolia too.

This blog is dreary with BB acolytes - they can't see that we are in recovery phase.
Come on Harry
I'm up to my neck in Auto shares, T bills and the US$
Should I hold or sell?
I have 2 wifes and 15 kids

Buy gold on dips, sell stocks on rallies is right up there with my personal favourite investment strategy, pay off debt, build up equity.

That is true Bernardo. The next act should be interesting. The federal government now wants to bail out the smaller banks that are going to fail.

Or maybe Banks can´t hide the big hole in its balance sheets, or off balance sheets, and begin the downturn. Who knows where the hare jump? Excelent article.

Not trying to set you up here, but are bullion banks such as the BullionVault viable alternatives. Read various opinions as to whether owning ETF shares like GLD or SLV is a viable option due to liquidity and actual ownership of gold.

Would be interested in hearing about the various options for owning gold other than storing it in a safe at the house or a safe deposit box at the bank.

I've come to the conclusion that the BullionVault is not all that bad an option and its fees for storage are in line with owning shares in the vast majority of mutual funds.
