As usual you make many valid points but I think you are ignoring what is really going on at the macro level.

Essentially, governments and central bankers are seeking to create a reprise of 2001/3 when monetary easy money and lax fiscal policy was key to inflating us away from the crying need to reduce consumption, raise the savings ration and so on. In attempting this, the authorities face two great dangers: the first – which you stress – is that they fail. The second – and in my view the far greater risk – is that they succeed. If they do it really is hard to imagine them managing a further reprise in, say, three years’ time.

Paradoxically, therefore, I am very bullish on equity markets and probably even more bearish than you on a three year view.

acoording to your statement “every Papua New Guinean native is just as intellectually bright as every New Yorker.” Fact is that it is even worse as a New Yorker probably wouldn’t stand 5 min. in Papua New Guinea from a survivalist point of view. There also have been Papua New Guineans when New York wasn’t even on the map and chances are good there will be Papua New Guineans when N.Y. isn’t on the map anymore. That has nothing to do with political correctness. A typical New Yorker may survive on his body fat for some time in the jungle but then he’ll be dead. If he serves a purpose may be he’ll end up in a cooking pot. Racist theories are usually cooked up by people who can’t find personal satisfaction in anything else. So there is no point to argue with them. Cheers.

The Cold Climate Theory (that you noted in your article) is a great piece of deductive reasoning that infuriates the Politically Correct because it’s true. Obviously. But it rebuts their sophistry that every Papua New Guinean native is just as intellectually bright as every New Yorker. Sometimes life is racist and if we could deal with that, we could make allowances and not take advantage of people. I wish we were all equal, but hey…

Who’s theory is it that the mankind first travelled to Europe from Africa and the Europeans have larger heads and bigger brains and are smarter? Is Mr Bonner an admirer of 19th century Christian white scientists? On the contrary, far easterners score higher IQ results consistently. That theory doesn’t stand and first needs to answer several fundemental questions. As much as I appreciate Bill’s style and views on economics, I hate to see him making racist remarks. Can he please leave anthopology to the experts in that field and concentrate on economics.
