Who did your research, knucklehead? NIXON was president '40 years and 2 days ago, jackoff...the USA wasn't empire - building, but out to protect the South from the communist-NVA/Vietcong/Chinese/Russian threat. It was JFK's "little war" to gain ostensible historical fame. JFK fancied immortality for his efforts and ate bullets from a crazed commie with a Mannlicher rifle.
We won every battle, but lost the war due to political micromanagement, Jane Fonda, the traitor. And don't forget the coward-protestors, who marched against the war instead of our supporting our conscripted, drafted troops.

I also thought this was a piece about the restaurant chain.

I understand knowing the value (worth) of something in comparison/contrast to knowing the price. Of course, in my estimation, the price of something may be speculated upon until that something is bought, but, the price of something--an event, movement, identity, etc. is only truly known when the value is revisionistically understood.

I agree. The Treaty of Versailles and the Great Depression created the Hitlers of the world. Did you know that the United States never sign off on this treaty?

David, I believe that the author was talking about our coming into World War I, not World War II. There was no Hitler or Third Reich in 1917 - those wouldn't come about until Germany reacted to the onerous terms of the Versailles Treaty.

If Mr. Bonner knew American history he would know that James K. Polk put the United States in the Empire Business about 70 years earlier than he cites. The Mexican-American War was all about empire. They called it "Manifest Destiny" in those days.

A little later that century Theadore Roosevelt made a name for himself in the Spanish-American War which was also about empire. As President he governed during our occupation of the Phillipines, perhaps the most barbaric conflict in our history. This was done in the name of "Aryan Supremacy". Yes folks, this idea of Aryan dominance existed long before Hitler and was embraced as a foreign policy of the US. Even in the 1880s we had the gall to tell the Asian countries what there place was in the universe... and we fought an Asian war in the 1940s because of it.

Mr. Bonner should study a little more and write a little less -especially when he doesn't know whatheis talking about.
