As a loyal DR reader for 10 years and owner of Bill Bonners latest book: "Mobs Messiahs and Markets", I would have to agree with the general sentiment of gloom and doom , I also appreciate tha we have been warned of this depression for several years and even knew how we could have avoided it by not repeating the same cyclical boom bust mentalities of all previous Fed and Governmet administrations.
What I am sying is - Am I the only one who believes the world has enough land, food and natural resources to cope with our population growth and the opportunities we have to be even more wealthy and happier than ever before - what with the breakthroughs and future opportunities in Medicine, Energy, Food, Water, Science and Finance to name a few.
I know I'll be there cashing in - What about you?

I like the plumber story. Many are incompetent. I hired one who had no ladder and was lacking many of the tools to do the job and was requesting these items from me. I told him to leave and refused to pay the $50 fee just for showing up. Repaired the problem myself.

It seems Goldman is always at the heart of Gov. bailouts. Just a coincidence I'm sure. I'm beginning to like the AIG/Goldman bailout since it is exposing the corruption.

The ham-handed bait and switch over the AIG bonuses did a fine job of quelling any discussion of the $32 Billion lost without so much as a receipt down the rathole of Iraqi Baksheesh. Just today, the NY Times has a nice picture of a long line of Anbar Sunnis lining up for their "awakenings" payout. There is a lovely little irony to the $32 million in AIG "incentive" bonuses going to employees who already left and the $32 billion going to the "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" payola train in Iraq. Guns, Girls and Grog would appear to be the only safe harbor on the horizon.

Can you please stop that silly "Anonymous"? - what a fool.
Administrations worldwide will continue the bailouts, stimulus plans, loans etc. etc. while they know this is basically in sane and all shortterm policy, as if they don't, a worldwide crash will be imminent. Politicians simply prefer a long pain of e.g. 15 years, instead of a short armageddon with social chaos.
At least for me reasons to understand why they are acting like they do - at first sight totally nuts, but after second thoughts quite understandable.
