Hoarding krugerrands is great, but I'd like to see a little "world improving" activism here on the part of DR bloggers, maybe of the tea party variety. Will gold protect us from the damage that will do? At what point do greedy gold hoarders become like the kulaks (upper class businessmen) of pre-Soviet Russia, who minded their money affairs while the country sank into communism. In case you are wondering, the kulaks did not survive that transition. We have a political problem on our hands, folks, and hoarding metals is good but not good enough when you are losing your country to fascism. And yet, for some months, with this job and income, I have been stashing whiskey, cigarettes, gold and silver!!! PLEASE! I hope gold goes to $300 so I can back my pickmup truck up to the bullion man and say:"Load 'er up champ!" I mean really... my employer pays me with over-valued dollars RIGHT NOW!!! A culture of fear and anxiety. Governments are trying to inflate our way out of this mess as this is the path of least resistance, politically speaking. On gold until the bleeding stops and we see some improvement in the job picture, I still see deflation. However, if the unemployment rate returns to anywhere we seen in the last decade, watch out hyper-inflation here we come! Remember the 70's?
