We had two similar solar cycles such as the one we are in now back in 1901 and 1913. I don't recall any ice ages occurring when the Wright Brothers were flying. More than likely when the Sunspot cycle peaks around May 2013, it will be a little tamer than what we've seen in the past few cycles and yes there tends to be some reduction in solar irradiance during a minimum, however that reduction will result in a difference of 0.3 Watts per square metre. The Sun is still shining at 1365.8 Watts per square metre. So be happy enjoy your days at the beach and buy gold, silver and oil. Don’t be too alarmed about the Sun yet.
