It is unfortunate... we could have let hundreds of billions of toxic debt just go by the way side last year... now we are stuck with it until the eventual failure of our government.

Two years from now the government can't just say: "Oh, you know what, we shouldn't have bought up that debt... we're just going to erase that off the ledger."

To respond to Alexandre's "bigger is best":

I used to be in forestry. In the woods we would see these big old trees, towering about the younger ones. Unfortunately these big old trees were rotting on the inside, and their shade was hindering the growth of the younger, healthier trees.

Bring out the ax! The bigger, yet rotting, trees need to give way to the stronger, more fruitful trees. In the end there is a larger harvest.

Ditto with the corporations that are rotting with debt. There is healthier growth beneath their shadows.

Let the ax fall!

Interesting and to the point. Some things will work and many things will NOT work. Especially over the longer term. Please continue trying to tell us the way you think things work Mr. Bonner, it is greatly appreciated. Cheers, H.H.
