Market up, volume down...poor directional progress....
Same with down market...
Volume in direction of market must be big for sustainable levels.

Layoffs continue.....local, regional, states are suffering hugely from loss of revenue.....property taxes due....housing prices may be "stabilizing" in some areas but not others...but stabilizing where? Down.

Our economy is like a sponge...it was full of water to drink...now it's about dry and nothing to nourish it. Financial houses making big bucks off of transactions, trading, and sinking most of the profits in treasuries.....Bernanke is applauding...

Over the last month or so, I have noticed when the market indices have gone up the volume has gone down. Conversely, when the market goes down, the volume goes up. Any thoughts?
