@ laivgrl:

The banks do not like the market economy, only if they can properly manipulate them in their favour.
And brokers usually profit the most the bigger the deal/leverage.

Bank lending at 3x? To whom? How can one afford Paris? Because there, you don't go bankrupt paying for healthcare and there are many more social cushions when things are bad? Another thing, you don't feel like you need to keep up with the joneses - you just live in relative modesty, but happier, and less stressed. We got our priorities all f'd up in the US! Oh, and a low dollar (makes america's $14 trillion dollar service related products cheaper to the world) on the global market is a precusor to domestic inflation. Typical market cycle after defecit spending stimulus. And this is news? Basic economics. The Fed is the banking institutions! Wake up America! We lost that fight when JFK wanted to do away with the unconstitutional FED (and the CIA) and was killed. Now, we just follow the cycles, the inputs, and take advantage of the FED induced bubbles. Just ID them, and get out early. Unless you have a better idea. I don't hear one. Just complaining.

Re: Berlusconi.

What does that have to do with geography lessons? They're both pols from Italy, Prodi and Berlusconi. Bonner's geography is correct, but give him a break, this isn't the US that keeps a president for 4-8 years. Italy's gov't collapses routinely. I think they've had over 30 prime ministers since the end of WWII alone! The US in its entire history is only on president number 44.

Mike, re: Berlusconi. Well, well, aren't you ever so proud to remind the world (such as it is) once again of just how very, very proud you people are of that man.

Conspiracies, depression, blah, blah, blah...Please just admit that the economy did turn the corner and we are in a recovery bull market phase. Not that difficult. You may be the only site on the web that still thinks we're headed for gloom. Sorry, bright skies are showing ahead.

Prodi? Mr Bonner... Romano Prodi has been out of office for a while now! You may have heard, there's a new (not that new, in fact) Italian prime minister... he is called Berlusconi...

Talk about Americans knowing their geography...
